Our Policies
Our goal at Petite Paw Grooming is to always go above and beyond for you and your pets to the best of our ability! In our salon we offer many different luxury products designed to tailor to you and your dogs' specific wants and needs. We understand every dog is different, so we have created services and an environment to accommodate those needs. Offering both traditional appointments and 1-on-1 appointments to meet those needs. We value quality over quantity and while we always do our very best to make sure your dog goes home looking its best, when necessary, we will always value your dogs' comfort and safety over vanity. I hope to bring a bit of luxury and expansive knowledge to the grooming industry here in Vermont and I want my salon to be a happy and comfortable place for all my pet clients.
By signing Petite Paw Grooming’s service agreement you are agreeing to the following Policies:

Drop-off/Pick-up Policy
In order for Petite Paw Grooming to maintain a calm and less stressful environment by having only a few dogs in the shop at a time, we ask that you follow the following guidelines for drop-off and pick-up:
When dropping off we ask that you do not arrive more than 5 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. We will do our best to give you an estimated time for when your pet will be ready.
Please, do not arrive late for your scheduled appointment, if you are more than 10 minutes late it may need to be rescheduled if our schedule does not allow for much leeway that day and you will be charged the late cancelation/no-show fee.
We will either text you or call you 30 minutes before your pet is going to be done, if you need more time to get back from wherever you are going to be, please let us know at drop-off and we will contact you earlier. Once you receive the text or call about your pet almost being done, please arrive within 30 minutes of the time you receive the text or call.
This is to ensure that only a few dogs are in the shop at the same time to allow for a less chaotic environment and allows for the least amount of interruptions.
If you are late picking up your pet (past the 30 minute mark) there is a chance of a late pick-up fee. The fee starts at $5 and will go up depending on how late you are.

Late Cancelation/No-Show Policy
Because Petite Paw Grooming is by appointment only there is a late cancelation/no-show policy in place in order to avoid loss of revenue that is needed in order for the business to stay open.
Late cancelation - Petite Paw Grooming needs at least 48hrs notice if you are unable to make it to your scheduled appointment in order for us to have time to hopefully fill the spot. If you must cancel within the 48hr before your scheduled appointment there will be an attempt to fill your spot, if it is unable to be filled there will be a late cancelation fee of the full cost of the appointment charged to the card-on-file, if the spot is able to be filled then there will be no fee charged.
No-Show - If you do not show up for your appointment or arrive too late for your appointment there will be a no-show charge of the full cost of the grooming appointment charged to the card-on-file.
New Additions to the Policy: We send out automatic reminder texts or emails 3 days before your scheduled appointment. On busy days we are not able to call or text people asking where you are if you have not arrived for your appointment. So, if you forget, please understand that that is not on us. Though we will always do our best to call or text if we notice you haven't arrived, it is just not possible to do that if we are busy working on other dogs. And in most cases, we would not be able to take you if you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment because it would put our entire day behind and that is not fair to the ones who did arrive on time.
** In cases of multiple no-shows or late cancelations, Petite Paw Grooming reserves the right to require a deposit before scheduling new appointments for up to the full cost of the grooming if we feel it is necessary. This deposit will go toward the cost of the scheduled appointment and is non-refundable if you choose to cancel or no-show.
** Because we live in Vermont, in the case of inclement weather during the winter, only the late cancelation fee may be waved depending on the situation. If you do not call or text to cancel in these situations it will be considered a no-show, and you will be charged the no-show fee.
** In the cases of extreme family emergencies, the waving of the late cancelation fee is dependent on the situation, but again, if you do not call or text to let us know it will be considered a no-show just like any other professional appointment. Some exceptions are possible but not guaranteed.
** In cases where the dog that is scheduled for the appointment suddenly passes away, the fee will be waved as we understand how incredibly hard it is to handle losing a beloved pet and sometimes canceling an appointment that was made specifically for them is the very last thing on our minds. But, if at all possible, please do your best to let us know before your appointment so that we may be able to fill your spot. If you have two dogs and lose one dog, but still plan to bring the other one in, please let us know before the appointment so that we can take extra care with the one still coming in and so we can potentially fill the other spot as well.

Safety First Policy
At Petite Paw Grooming your pets safety and comfort is our top priority. This can sometimes mean that your grooming appointment will end up being one of comfort over vanity. We will never force your pet through specific grooming procedures if we believe it will harm your pet either physically or emotionally. This can include, but is not limited to, nail trimming, lifting legs, de-matting their hair, drying them, or bathing them. Some dogs are truly terrified of some aspects of the grooming process and may need to be desensitized and slowly introduced to the process, this can look like coming in more regularly and doing less during each appointment to reduce the stress on them, or having you help desensitize them to sounds and feelings at home between grooming appointments. As much as we absolutely love making your pet look adorable and beautiful, your pets comfort and safety is far more important and we will advocate for your pets comfort and safety when necessary.
In cases of pets becoming aggressive for any reason, Petite Paw Grooming reserves the right to stop the grooming at any point. We will not put your pet or ourselves in danger in order to force them to be groomed. You must inform Petite Paw Grooming if your pet has ever bitten or even shown signs of biting for any reasons, so that we can take precautions when necessary. Kit Turner is certified in handling difficult dogs, and we do our best to work with owners on getting these dogs more comfortable with the process to the very best of our ability. We will not turn away an aggressive dog unless absolutely necessary for our safety or the dog's safety.
Petite Paw Grooming requires a copy of your dog's rabies vaccination before coming in for an appointment, this includes updated rabies as they go out of date. And we reserve the right to cancel any appointment if the vaccination record is not presented to us before the appointment.
You must let Petite Paw Grooming know if your pet has any current or new injuries before their grooming appointment. This is so we may be able to better accommodate your pet if necessary. Some injuries will prevent your pet from being able to be groomed, grooming can irritate old injuries or make new injuries even worse. Please ask your vet if they believe your pet is healthy enough to be groomed and if your pet has had any recent surgeries be aware we cannot groom them until the wounds are fully healed in order to prevent infections, this includes spay and neuter surgeries.
New Additions to the Policy: Any dogs 12 years or older with any health issues may be required to present a vet note that must include: A statement from your vet saying the dog is healthy enough to be groomed safely, a list of all current health conditions or concerns, a list of all medications that are prescribed for any of the mentioned health conditions, and it must include the vets signature as well as their contact information. You will then be required to sign a "Safety First" agreement that Petite Paw Grooming will send to you digitally; you may sign it in person at your appointment if you are unable to sign it digitally for any reason. But the vet note must be sent to Petite Paw Grooming BEFORE the appointment. This is so that we can prepare for any needed accommodations.
**Any dogs 14 years or older absolutely MUST present the aforementioned vet note and must sign the "Safety First" agreement,
no exceptions!

Flea/Tick Policy
Petite Paw Grooming does NOT treat flea for you. This is because they are highly transferable and can infiltrate all corners of the salon and the attached building, and I cannot risk our pets or other clients' pets getting them. If a small amount is found during the grooming process, we will use an all-natural flea shampoo and there will be a fee of $35 added to your appointment. If your pet is infested and we only noticed after you have left, you will be contacted immediately to pick up your pet, a fee of the full cost of the grooming will be charged due to the loss in revenue and the inconvenience of needing to deep clean and flea bomb the salon. The fleas must be treated by you and your veterinarian before you can rebook your appointment, and you must wait at least 2 to 3 weeks from the time of treatment depending on how bad the infestation is because of the life cycle of the fleas and the fact that they are likely in your home as well so could hop right back on your pets even after being treated. Please be aware if your dog does have fleas, it is now highly likely that your car and home has them, and you should look into treatment options for your home and car as well.
Petite Paw Grooming will remove ticks if they are found on your pet. If more than 5 ticks are found there may be a fee for removal of what is found due to how time consuming it can be to remove them and to make sure they are removed safely. This fee starts at $5 and can go up based on how many are found.
If your pet is infested with ticks, you will be called to pick up your pet as soon as possible and it will need to be seen by your vet and be treated and cleared by your vet before returning for a new appointment. In the case that your pet is sent home due to ticks the full cost of the grooming appointment will be charged due to the loss of revenue and the need to deep clean and potentially treat the salon to make sure none fell or transferred off your dog during its time here.

Payment Policy
New Addition to the Policy: Petite Paw Grooming will, unfortunately, no longer be accepting checks starting in 2025!
This is because of how many checks have either not cleared or have been written out with the incorrect information/price causing the bank to not accept it. While I understand these are likely not things that are purposeful, it does cause payments of our services to go days, and often times weeks, without being paid.
Petite Paw Grooming does still accept the following forms of payment - Cash, Credit & Debit Cards (via the card-on-file or Square), and Venmo. We also require a card-on-file and that can be used upon your request. The card-on-file is only used in cases of you requesting us to use it to pay for your appointment and in cases of no-shows and late cancelations, when no other form of payment is given.
If payment of any kind is withheld from Petite Paw Grooming after a service has been provided, Petite Paw Grooming reserves the right to cancel any future appointments until the service has been paid in full. Please keep in mind, that if this happens, your canceled appointment spots may be filled, and we will have to reschedule you on new days once the service has been paid in full.
