Dematting pricing depends on the difficulty and the amount of dematting that needs to be done. This charge can very based on how severe the matting is.

This is because dematting is not only hard on me and my equipment, but it is hard on the dog. It is basically taking a bladed comb or other blades through the knotted hair until it thins and cuts it loose. This can take a long time. If I think it will take too long or if it can not be done, I will contact you and we may need to figure out a different trim/style for your dog. Dematting can also mean shaving, if the mats are right against the skin I will need to shave and this can take a lot of time so that I do not cut the dog. Mats can cause a lot of pulling on their skin and once that constant pulling is released it can cause bruising to be left behind. This is why I typically require regular grooming for all my clients, 4-6 weeks if the hair is an inch or longer for its final length after grooming and preferably no more than 8 weeks for any other breed.

(Note: The bruising mats cause can be more noticeable on light skin/haired dogs but is still very much present on all dogs dealing with mats for extended periods of time)

Flea/tick baths are not specifically offered due to the amount of clean up and the possibility of fleas transferring to other clients or my personal pets. A flea bath will only be given if a small amount of fleas are found during the grooming process (I use a gentle and all natural flea/tick shampoo) and there will be an added fee to your appointment for the cost of the specialized shampoo, clean up, and flea bombing of my shop to keep all chances of transferring to a minimum. If your pet arrives with a significant amount of fleas your appointment will be canceled until the pet can be treated for fleas by your vet. Proof of treatment will be necessary before rescheduling their appointment and I will not schedule until at least 1 week has passed since treatment.

Pricing for Fleas is $50. If I find the dog is infested after the dog has been dropped off I will contact you and ask if you would like me to proceed with the groom and treat with a flea bath, regardless of if the groom is continued or if you choose to pick the dog up there will be a fee of $50 to cover having to flea bomb, deep clean and reschedule any dogs that were meant to come in that day. This fee is added to the cost of your grooming if you choose to have me continue or you may pay just the $50 and take the dog home and reschedule after the fleas are taken care of.

Tick removal of 5 ticks or less are included with all grooming appointments that include a bath. More than 5 ticks are subjected to a flat fee of $20 and if the infestation is extensive I will call you and request the dog is brought directly to the vet for full removal of the ticks and suggest being tested for any tick borne diseases.
