Other Qualifications:
I've been grooming professionally since 2011 and learned originally from a groomer here in Vermont who had been grooming for 15 years prior. Even before that I was helping my mom groom her Pomeranians since 2006, she was a show breeder of Pomeranians while I was growing up, so I have extensive knowledge of the breed. I am also constantly talking with other professional groomers all over the world and constantly learn new techniques. I am also a member of International Professional Groomers, Inc where I'm required to continue my education to keep up with all the new and exciting things about grooming and the industry. As a member I am also required to keep to their Code of Ethics, which I love, and you can read them below.
Current Goals:
I'm currently working toward getting my International Master Groomer Certification through International Professional Groomers Inc.
Petite Paw Grooming:
I founded Petite Paw Grooming originally in 2016 but had to close in 2018. I've been lucky enough to re-open in 2023! My goal with Petite Paw Grooming is to offer a luxury grooming experience to your pups with high end products and the most up-to-date knowledge and know how in the grooming industry. I want your pups to be comfortable and beautiful when they leave and hopefully happy to come back each time. Their comfort and safety are always my top priorities.
A Bit About Me
I was born in Oregon and moved to West Danville in 1999. I grew up right here in the Danville area on Joes' Pond. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2015. I had to close my business in 2018 because of this. BUT then I found out in 2021 I was misdiagnosed with Fibromyalgia, I learned I actually had crippling stage 4 Endometriosis! I was able to have surgery with two specialists in March of 2022 and I'm doing a million times better! Because of this I got to return to grooming which I am still very passionate about!
While I was going though so much between 2018-2022 I learned a lot about myself and decided to start fresh! Because of this I've changed my name from Cassandra Lauro to Kit Turner and prefer they/them pronouns now.
I have a beautiful rescued American Cocker Spaniel named Luna and a handsome rescued orange tabby cat named Solar.
Luna has many health issues including a skin disorder and many allergies, so I understand how each dog has their own needs.

Luna
Luna is a rescue from a New Jersey Cocker Spaniel rescue who got her from a high kill shelter down south. I was fortunate enough to find her on PetFinder.com. She was 3 months old when I got her in 2012 and I fell in love instantly. I'll never forget the way she hugged into my neck when I first held her tiny body in my arms. She slept on my chest the whole way home. Since then she has done agility and come to work with me almost everyday. Though now that she is 12 y/o she no longer comes to work with me and prefers to spend her days napping in sun beams beside her best friend Solar. 🥰
Unfortunately at 6 months old I was walking her in the park and 4 unsupervised very young kids ran over to her and grabbed at her to pet her and she became very scared and tried to run away but couldn't because she was on a leash. Now when people walk in or come toward her she will bark and be scared. But, she truly is the sweetest dog once she is comfortable with someone. I've worked with her at Off The Beaten Trail and she has come leaps and bounds since then. I highly recommend Jeff at Off The Beaten Trail for all your training needs!
Solar
Solar was a stray and hung outside of a friends house for a while before I stopped by one day with Luna. Luna always loved cats but we were not sure what he would do with her. Once they met I knew I needed to take him home with us. He rubbed up against her and she barked at him and followed him around and he didn't mind any of it. He even pawed at her and followed her. Once I brought him home they cuddled together the first night and became best friends. He is also 12 y/o (approximately) and spends most his time bathing in sunlight and purring away beside me on the couch. 🥰
Now that they are older they cuddle less but they still play and chase each other around the house. But, on the rare occasion I catch them cuddling I always snap a cute picture!
